Some of you have been wondering if we're still working on the Kingdoms modpack, just want to let you know it is still in the works.
As we're here, I thought I would give a quick rundown on how the server will work a launch.
The Kingdoms server will slowly launch content over time. Unlike our normal servers, we won't drop everything there and just leave you to play until you're fed up. The server will launch content in what we're calling seasons, with Season One being the launch season.
New seasons will come with mod change, new story kingdoms and quest for you to check out. So you can always know even when you're done with the server, there will be some new stuff to check out when you come back.
So what will be in Season One?
Season One will have the starter Kingdom with a range of quest to get you started in the world, and lay the foundations of the storyline. It will also come with all you need to build and make your own Kingdoms, which is really the meat and two veg of this pack. There will also be dungeons for you to check out and find custom loot in.
We can't say for sure what will be in the next season, as we haven't even got Season One done yet :D But it will come with a class system and improvements based on your feedback. We'll also look at adding your ideas that you have been suggesting to the server.
How will Kingdoms work?
So there will be a number of NPC Kingdoms for you to check out and do quests and follow the storylines. You can even live and trade in these Kingdoms while you're getting what you need to start your own. Like I've already said, we will start off with one Kingdom, but as the season go one we'll be adding more.
How will making your own Kingdoms work?
Anyone can team up and make their own Kingdom. When you have founded and made your Kingdoms its now time to start building. The more space and bigger the Kingdom you have, the more villagers you can have. Villagers can be used to build, farm, fight and mine. You're going to want a lot of villagers if you want to start taking on other Kingdoms.
Players can chose to wage war with their fellow player's Kingdoms, or stay out of it, and build their own little happy land. Going to war with another Kingdom could be devastating for the loser, as they will be able to keep or destroy any building or villagers they have captured, but for the winner will be a huge boost to theirs.
Little more on villagers
The Kingdoms server will also allow you to upgrade your villagers. Giving them tools and skills will allow them to be better in their role. Want a fast miner? Teach them and give them the tools they need. Them just sitting there hitting rocks with their fist won't be much help. However, you might be a quantity over quality kind of person. So in your eyes have 30 villagers with very little gear, might be worth it to you. Why bother spending time training someone right?
Defending your Kingdom
First of all, Kingdoms can never attack each other if all players of that Kingdom are offline. You won't log in to find your town a mess. Proving you claimed it! :D The Kingdoms modpack will come with custom blocks for you to build your Kingdom out of. Some of them might be a bit costly but will stay strong when being attacked. Again villagers will also be a huge help here. You'll also be able to set up turrets and traps to stop peering eyes.
Taking over a Kingdom
Each Kingdom will have 5 Kingdom blocks they must keep safe. The attacking Kingdom will need to mine and have your blocks for your Kingdom to now be theirs. So make sure you keep them safe :D Attacking Kingdoms can locate these blocks, by sending some of their villagers over as spy to look for them.
